Director's Message
Fall/Winter 2022
A Message from Director of Parks and Recreation
Bari Jarvis, CPRP
It has been an exciting year for our department! We relocated from our Community House office to Greenwood Center where we reopened our beloved daycare and after school programs. We have shared a year of successful programs with our patrons and feel gratitude for your support. The Wolf Swamp field project is progressing and is slated for moderate use in the spring of 2022.
We sadly say goodbye to two valuable assets to our department. Park and Recreation Commission Vice Chair Margaret Rakas
resigned after 9 years of service. Donna Mante has worked for the department for over 27 years in many capacities including the main office, Daycare, After School Program and as Site Coordinator for the Early Risers Program at Center School. We thank you both and will miss you!
What’s next for the Longmeadow Parks and Recreation Department?
Our extremely committed and skilled staff plan on continuing to increase the level of quality and service in our already popular
programs, child care and facilities making “your Parks and Recreation Department” the very best. This initiative is one that can only be accomplished with your input.
How can you share your ideas and feedback?
In the next few weeks and months, the staff and I will be working to develop feedback mechanisms and opportunities that will be implemented by our program staff and the Parks and Recreation management team. We truly want to know what we can do to
improve communication and serve you better. Please take the time to talk with your instructors, fill out program evaluations, send us an email, call the office or stop in to share your thoughts You may reach me at Greenwood, by phone at 565-4160 or email at bjarvis@longmeadow.org. We look forward to serving you and your family.
