Objective
The investigation of a criminal offense is one of the most critical police functions. Our Detectives work closely with investigators from the state police, federal agencies and surrounding cities and towns in sharing resources, personnel and information.
Responsibilities
This Detective Bureau is responsible for the follow up investigation of all crimes, as well as intelligence analysis and dissemination, forensic examination of crime scenes and associated evidence and case maintenance of ongoing long-term investigations. The Detectives serve as the evidence officers for the Department, and fill the role of liaison to the Hampden County District Attorney’s office.
