All members of the Longmeadow Fire Department are capable of providing various levels of education to the community.

Public Fire & Life Safety Education
To better serve the public, the Department features a Public Fire and Life Safety Education Division. The members of this division have received additional training through the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services.

Mission
The mission of the Public Education Division is to identify fire and life safety issues and attempt to mitigate them through education, with the ultimate goal of increasing awareness, prevention and safety throughout the community. This is accomplished through:
  • Annual information booth at the Long Meddowe Days
  • Annual or biannual education programs in the school system
  • Any opportunity that arises where advice and education is welcomed or necessary
  • Direct dialogue with homeowners
  • Educational lessons and tours at the fire station
  • Monthly programs at the Greenwood Center Council on Aging
  • Safety messages published in the Longmeadow News and other media
