History of the Electric Vehicle Charging Program

Through support offered by Eversource and the Make Ready Program, the Town of Longmeadow had four electric vehicle charging stations installed. The Make Ready programs covers the cost of the infrastructure to make the sites ready for EV charging. Two of the locations, Longmeadow High School and Wolf Swamp Athletic Fields, received grant funding through the MassEVIP program providing grant funding toward the purchase of the charging stations. The Longmeadow Adult Center charging station was purchased through a generous donation from the Longmeadow Adult Center Community Fund.

Electric vehicle charging stations vary by price charged per kWh throughout the region. The Longmeadow Select Board spent considerable time reviewing information to equitably set a charging rate to fully capture the cost of energy supplied to the end user. On August 1, 2022, the Select Board set the rate at $8.00 per hour of charging, or $.133/minute.

Rates and EV charging usage will continue to be evaluated and adjusted by the Select Board as needed. To send your comments to the Select Board please email selectboard@longmeadow.org
